Work with national executive staff on all aspects of the organization’s education platform; internal operations and structures; as well as all major programmatic initiatives. Serve as a key resource and policy advisor to Senior Leadership, Executive Directors, Site Boards and the City Year National Board of Trustees on issues related to K-12 education reform. Coach and support local executive directors in their partner relationships with school superintendents, building principals, and state education agency officials. Lead City Year’s efforts to collaborate with other national education groups and their senior staffs in school choice, improvement, re-design and turnaround efforts. Advise on restructuring internal data governance, management and analytics network capacities.

Served on the Commissioner's senior management cabinet. Responsible for leading a newly created Office of School Innovation, setting optimal state-level policy and operating conditions for dramatic school improvement and re-design. Responsible for setting the Department’s new schools policy environment. Ensured that New York’s districts and schools had the flexibility to adapt and implement site-level autonomies. Oversaw performance management of the State’s failing schools and districts, as well as charter authorization and oversight of New York's public charter schools. Ensured a safe and healthy school environment for 3.2 million school children in 4800 school buildings across the State. Served as the Governor’s appointee to multiple statewide public safety and health task forces. The State’s school turnaround efforts were also located in this office, including management of School Improvement Grant work.

Served as key national resource on charter school authorizing. Lead product development of model policies, practices and procedures that define school and system quality. Partnered with clients to improve both Board level policy setting and day-to-day management of school oversight work.Key clients included:• Oakland Unified School District;• Los Angeles Unified School District;• Denver Public Schools; Chicago Public Schools; and• State Boards of Education in California, Arizona, Missouri, New Mexico, and Louisiana

During my time in the Commonwealth, I was responsible for managing and carrying out school and district review and evaluation activities under the state accountability system and the Regulations on Underperforming Schools and Districts. I was also responsible for all aspects of school review and accountability for the 61 charter schools in the Commonwealth.• Led over 120 on-site school and district review visits and producing summative evaluation reports• Formed and managed a statewide advisory committee to the Board of Education and Commissioner comprised of representatives from all major school leadership associations and teacher unions in the Commonwealth, research organizations, and higher education partners• Managed the Commonwealth Pilot School application review and approval process, set accountability benchmarks, designed and carried out Co-Pilot school review process• Provided guidance on how to leverage principles of school re-design for school improvement at both performing and underperforming schools• Reported charter school renewal findings and made 35 charter school renewal recommendations to the Board of Education, the Commissioner of Education, and senior staff• Managed budgets, contracts and relationships with school review and school model re-design vendors
