Since September 1st 2024, I have been working at Archway School in Stroud, teaching English. From September 2023 to September 2024, I taught English at All Saints Academy in Cheltenham, as a secondary English teacher. I have worked for Thrive Education as a supply teacher, offering English and drama, special educational needs, primary teaching and as a general cover since its inception in early 2021. Note: I have taught across Gloucestershire and Herefordshire in a number of schools since 2007, mostly on a supply basis with some longer term maternity and sick leave posts. I joined Brookthorpe Hall initially as the English teacher. However, as the school was still very new, we all taught all subjects, to students aged 7 to 12. I also taught drama to the whole school. The school is an autism friendly school with a maximum of 60 students on roll, aged 7 to 16.

I also provided some supply cover for The Battledown Centre, another school in the Sand Academy Trust. Theatre School Principal. I ran Stagecoach Schools in Hereford, Ledbury and Malvern. During my time as Principal I ran schools with mostly the same staff throughout. We developed lively, bustling and creative schools which were bursting with energy and enthusiastic teachers. I wrote the plays for the end of term demonstrations and inspired the children and teachers to work to their maximum potential.

I ran my own weekly interview host show. I researched all my own ideas, found celebrity guests to interview, edited my own material, did live and pre-recorded features, and live and pre-recorded interviews. I ran my own radio desk and selected my own music. Regular guests included MP Mark Harper and previous MP Diana Organ. Celebrity guests included Ron Moody, Alan Fletcher from Neighbours and Jimmy Young.I also made five short features as a joint project with BBC Radio Gloucestershire. These five features were aired on BBC Radio Gloucestershire during 2007.

I wrote several articles a week for the Gloucestershire Citizen for three years. These included a “Family Day Out”, an extended interview column, a restaurant column and a shopping feature. I worked closely with the editor, Spencer Feeney, to develop feature ideas and created and changed them according to the seasons and market changes. At the time I had a baby and as such, having done my research during the weekends largely, with family in tow, I would get up at 5 am, before anyone else in the family woke, to write and submit my articles.

I ran this jointly with Philippa Ross Thompson. We wrote, acted in and toured plays to primary schools in Northern Ireland. We researched and developed our own ideas, liaised with the primary schools, secured our own contracts. I left the company in 1999 when we moved back to England, but the company went from strength to strength and is still run today (albeit under a different name) and has its own premises.
