The DBA was set up by the industry, for the industry, in 1986. We champion the transformative power of design and support design teams working across the breadth of our industry. This role focused on building the profitability and impact of DBA Programmes, both working closely with external funders, such as Creative and Cultural Skills and Arts Council England, and building independently profitable programmes of work which supported the economic growth of DBA members and the wider industry. Leading the team responsible for the design, development and implementation of an extensive programmes of events and professional development programmes, right through from the initial idea, to the production, marketing and delivery. We delivered authoritative, stimulating and professional events, linking content to the DBA’s strategic goals and exploring key industry issues, contributing to member retention and recruitment.In 2011, I designed, developed and launched the DBA's business mentoring programme, Twenty/Twenty. This innovative programme pairs design industry pioneers with a new wave of industry leaders, helping them to make better informed decisions about their businesses, their people and themselves.

Working with private and corporate clients

The Academy of Medical Sciences is the independent body in the UK representing the whole spectrum of medical science. Their mission is to ensure better healthcare through the rapid application of research to the practice of medicine.I was responsible for the coordination and development of the Academy’s Mentoring and Outreach Scheme for clinical academic trainees as it expanded to incorporate new programmes of support for new levels of trainee. I project managed the production of UK-wide events with high-profile speakers and attracted audiences of busy trainees in a crowded marketplace. I presented the scheme at national events and reported into the funder (NHS National Institute of Health Research) on progress. I developed the existing mentoring offer and supported trainees as they established a relationship with an appropriate mentor.
