It was fantastic to take my next step at Swansea University as a marketing manager. This was a busy but rewarding role that allowed me to develop a team and grow the marketing support available. One of the first tasks in the role was to rebrand the School, requiring the creation of a new set of promotional materials and many changes on the website. I also got to meet Hillary Clinton in the process. Throughout my time in this role I took a strategic lead with the team to ensure efficient working practices were in place and that goals and targets were achieved. I also oversaw all PR and marketing campaigns, events and helped plan Clearing activity. I'm glad to have had the experience of running a marketing department and had the pleasure of working with some amazing colleagues.

I was seconded to the College for a few months to spruce up the webpages but ended up staying longer and undertaking a marketing transformation exercise. The sprucing turned into a complete website refresh which required brand new images, testimonials, information, pages and graphic design. I implemented short and long term marketing strategies for the College and refreshed and added social media channels. Working with prospective and current students, colleagues and a design agency, I project managed a radical downsizing of the prospectus and introduced new corporate branding. Events play a big part in College life and I ensured that promotional material, literature, signage and advertising was all on-brand and effective. Additionally, I trained staff, took photos, wrote press releases and represented the College in internal working groups and external seminars and conferences. Much to my mother's delight, I finally did something related to my law degree.

I devised and implemented the digital marketing strategy for the School of Management, trained colleagues to use Adwords, Analytics and helped them develop social media, website design and content producing skills.I planned and produced content and advertising campaigns and monitored and analysed the resulting data. I also promoted and organised a week-long, multi-organisation festival for the School in September 2016.

I designed, organised and executed marketing campaigns across a variety of channels and assisted with internal communications across the company regarding marketing and media activity.I interviewed customers, suppliers, associated charities and staff members to produce stories, update information and gain feedback and liaised with local and national media to book advertising and submit press releases.I was responsible for producing and editing all content for the company. I also planned and scheduled posts on all social media channels, then provided relevant feedback and statistics for management. I produced product, portrait, lifestyle, landscape and event photos and infographics.Probably the only role I'll ever have where it's acceptable to look at images of cute pets all day.

I created both on and offline content about anything and everything to do with bicycles. My tasks included writing "how to" guides, product reviews, blog posts, social media updates and product descriptions. I was able to blend technical expertise with a conversational tone, to appeal to an extremely varied audience. During my employment, I transformed from a fair-weather cyclist into a Lycra-clad lover of hill climbing - something I was just as surprised at as everyone else.

It's funny, I never thought I was 'salesy', but I managed to combine a competitive streak with a consultative approach in this role, and it worked a treat. I provided bespoke recruitment advertising solutions on the Totaljobs website for a wide range of public sector, private sector and recruitment consultancies. My client list featured an eclectic mix of industries and included British Gas, Orange, WHSmith, Admiral, Laing O'Rourke, Kier Group, Age UK and Shaw Trust. I also assisted with email marketing, provided optimised copywriting for clients and ran training sessions for staff and clients. I was awarded nationwide Salesperson of the Month shortly before going on maternity leave. After that, I ended up moving to Swansea and decided to have a crack at marketing instead.

I provided account management to organisations in Wales and the South West. This involved project managing a variety of assignments, providing media advice and negotiating media discounts. I also helped to train staff in the Cardiff office - all three have gone on to have sparkling careers.
