About Sally Richards

Growing up as a young girl in Cornwall, I never imagined the journey my career would to take me on!I started my career in travel and hospitality as a travel agent, moving to airline and then into tour operating before working with hotels directly. Utell gave me my foundation in international distribution, sales & marketing where I gained incredible experience working in the US & UK for a portfolio of 6500 hotels. Senior commercial roles then unfolded. Initially at RaspberrySky, I wanted to help hotels to understand the complexity of distribution & pricing but over the years the services have evolved to include Bespoke IT system services, Commercial Reviews, Project Management, Systems Procurement, using ‘tried and tested’ approaches using experienced ‘specialists’.Unlike other consultancy’s we are not afraid to ‘get under the bonnet & roll up our sleeves’ to fully understand our customers business, we don’t just make recommendations, we work with our customers to project manage the implementation.My unique background in both travel and hospitality enables me to see the industry from both the supply and demand side and identify the commercial opportunities. Therefore I am often asked to be SME in transformational projects to be be on an organisations Advisory Board.Over the last 17 years I have been fortunate to work with a real cross section of companies - hotels (all shapes and sizes), hostels, serviced apartments, private member clubs, OTA’s, GDS, TMC, tour operators, technology companies, RepCo’s, owners & asset management companies – we have great connections! Our clients always say we are ‘easy to do business’ - we take complex business challenges and make the recommendations simple to understand. I am proud to say in 2019 RaspberrySky was invited by Rt Hon Lord Pickles to contribute to The Parliamentary Review's, first publication specifically for hospitality. More recently in 2022, we became part of the London & Partners Mentor programme.I love speaking to other business leaders about strategy, revenues, ‘pain points’, and ambitious plans (or horses!).
