The world is constantly changing and one of the greatest challenges we face today is the way we communicate. New mediums are appearing constantly and individuals and companies are now faced with a huge range of options when looking for ways to communicate and market themselves and their businesses. For no group is this more relevant than young people.I founded Be Social. Be Smart. because we believe in the power of a good digital brand. My goal is to empower young people to be thoughtful digital citizens and to recognise the opportunity and potential of social media for their future success. We focus on smart social media skills, digital brand building, and encourage digital sharing and connecting for positive career outcomes.With a background in communications, marketing and branding, I have had the opportunity to work in the UK, US, Hong Kong and Australia in industries as diverse as media, financial services, travel and retail.     As Program Lead for gen[in] I was responsible for the successful delivery of Queensland’s first ever internationally focused student innovation challenge, gen[in].The gen[in] Innovation Challenge was funded by Trade and Investment Queensland, and lead by the University of Queensland along with a dedicated consortium of 16 members from government, tertiary institutions and industry. The program lead over 3000 students aged 14-24 through an entrepreneurial journey, providing them with the skills and opportunity to create unique ideas and businesses. My role required a wide ranging skill set, from engaging with a large number of stakeholders, overseeing the management and involvement of the consortium board, partnering with high schools and universities to deliver the program to students, facilitating entrepreneurship workshops, arranging a large scale mentoring program and event managing the final pitch event. I managed the development and roll out of the program's online content and all program administration. I was also responsible for overseeing expenditure and budget and acquittals in line with government reporting.
