Adventurous, Enthusiastic, Compassionate, and Analytical.I'm a voracious learner and relentless explorer. I have considered specialities in everything from Economics, Psychology, Environmental Studies, Women's Studies, to Mathematics. My degree from Williams Colleges will be in Economics and Africana Studies, and I am hoping to enter into the nonprofit sector or inform public policy.I determined my chosen path during the year and a half I spent away from Williams College (Feb 2013-August 2014). During this time I backpacked across the country, worked for trade (landscaping, gardening, building) and worked tirelessly in a farm to table restaurant. This travel has informed my perspective on the United States, poverty, mental health, and discipline immensely.I have worked for many years in the customer service and food industry, which has aided my understanding of business management, team dynamics, and hospitality.I have volunteered in various counseling capacities, and look forward to doing more extensive volunteering in mental health, poverty, and women's organizations.After Williams, I am hoping to enter into either the nonprofit sector or into public policy. I have a specific interests in non-profit marketing, non-profit sector efficiency, criminal justice reform, welfare reform for impoverished single mothers, and mental health especially as related to minority populations.I am not simply committed to these causes through altruism. As a both analytical and empathetic mind, these problems seem like some of the greatest puzzles to solve. I am intrinsically motivated to commit my career to doing so.Most of all, I am so eager to see what the road has in store for me next.
