HP Enterprise Services (Hook, Hampshire) Defence & Security - Atlas DII Programme (Ministry of Defence)Reported to the Tier 1/2 Programme Manager, led infrastructure and hardware delivery through Projects and Work-packages using the end to end process. Role was situated on the ATLAS Programme and covered 4 Core customer Data Centres. The primary aspects of this role were the initiation, planning, execution, control and closure of approximately 10 Work-packages or 3 Projects. Was fully responsible and accountable for project delivery, time, cost and quality. Key Tasks include:• Developed and maintained baseline project plans through initiation, planning, execution and closure project phases.• Conducted monitoring of overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.• Led, planned, directed, and co-ordinated a cross-functional team’s activities to manage and implement projects using ATLAS PPMF methodologies – compliant with PRINCE 2. • Constructed and managed Work-package delivery to meet demander requirements.• Identified and assembled the appropriate resource to meet the needs and requirements of related Core Infrastructure Projects assigned. • Controlled project requirements, scope, and change management issues. Reported Project status, progress, and benefits to the ATLAS Programme and the client. • Determined, monitored, and reviewed all project economics to include costs, staffing requirements, resources, quality and risk. • Met with customers to review Project scope/progress and resolve Project issues. HP Enterprise Services (Reading, Berkshire) Defence & Security - Atlas DII Project (Ministry of Defence)Managed and was responsible for the delivery of complex, high risk, or new capability infrastructure projects submitted for the Tier 3 Data Centres. Supported large scale series of engineering environments, including a restricted internal business network. Engaged with customer to confirm requirements and subsequent plans of work to ensure successful delivery using a controlled framework balancing quality, time, cost and risk.Was tasked with reducing critical temperature and capacity of DC, before eventually relocating the Data Centre from Reading to Scotland. This brought an end to the role in the South. Spent 2 weeks in Scotland ensuring DC was brought back online successfully.Key tasks included;• Maintained machine practices to a professional standard.• Relocation of Data Centre from Reading to Scotland.• Reduced critical Temperature of DCs by nominating and implementing service improvement.• Capacity Management• Provided Technical Leadership and mentoring to 3 x DC infrastructure engineers.• Managed and delivered Infrastructure projects for internal clients.• Followed security compliant standards for IT equipment in a Defence environment• Created Bill Of Materials (BOMs)• Ensured risk assessments are in place for standard and non-standard moves• Worked to defined asset management processes• Reduced hardware footprint of DC by nominating devices for Virtualisation.• Implemented Health and Safety initiatives.• Managed and approved Data Centre PTWs• Delegation of work/project requests.• Visio diagrams of floor plans and rack design.• Renewal of maintenance contracts.
