CurrentBAANSULI – Bamboo Artisan Socio-Economic Upliftment Initiative, is also a combination of two words i.e., Baans which means “Bamboo “and Hansuli is “A jewellery pattern “, is a social enterprise which is economically empowering the tribal artisans of Dang, generating rural livelihood and working towards women empowerment through its initiatives. Its skilling the tribal and rural population of the region to make handcrafted contemporary bamboo jewellery, accessories and home products. Home and utility products by Baansuli are functional yet stylish, are of great utility and are perfect for gifting. Baansuli started as a project by Saloni during her SBI Youth for India Fellowship, which later in 2019 took shape of a social enterprise. According to NITI Aayog, Dang is one of the most economically distressed districts out of 718 districts in India. 98% of the population is tribal and the major source of income is agriculture. The problem arises after monsoons, Due to its hilly terrain, Dang faces water scarcity post-monsoon leading to loss of cultivation work, leading to seasonal migration. Baansuli was founded with an aim of giving the tribe of Dangs a regular source of income and livelihood and mitigating seasonal migration. Baansuli specializes in uniquely handcrafted bamboo products made from locally available Manvel bamboo in Dangs. The bamboo used as raw material undergoes Chemical Preservation Treatment for durability and protection against organic decay. All the products undergo quality checks for appearance after wash and colour fastness. Jewellery is further embellished with semi-precious stones, german silver, beads to give a bespoke touch to it. The USP of all Baansuli's products are durability, competitive pricing, lightweight, fine finish and contemporary designs.Each product sold at Baansuli lights a home in Dang and brings prosperity!
