Taking part as a TIEA207 course technical co teacher with university teacher & edu researcher Ville Isomöttönen. Course description:The department of mathematical information technology at University of Jyväskylä (Finland) offers a bachelor-level project-based course, which is based on the use of open resources. The course challenges participants to ideate and implement a software application within a 12-week period using open data and open APIs. Project teams are formed according to a principle that team members have not worked together before. The newly formed teams first review open resources and their own interests and intentions, and define a project topic. Typically the teams ideate small-scale web services that benefit particular real-life target groups. The project outcome is a usable prototype of the project idea. Teams present their project results in a departmental project presentations session at the end of the course. The course can be shortly referred to as creative project-based learning. Group processes and the software process followed by the team are discussed during weekly per group discussion sessions to promote conceptual learning. Programming in the course reflects the present-day mashup character of software development. Participants get also acquainted with IPR questions as their combine different resources and consider how to release their end products. Generally, the course concept attempts to promote innovation ability and addresses the educational call posed by the process of digitalization.

Few initial freelancing gigs through local ex co-op before owning a business ID. Involved data scraping, summary statistics and web service integrations with Python and Clojure.

Contributed some Ruby on Rails backend code and automation design for later successful startup company. Attended Slush business event and Nordea hackathon as a team member.

Continued developing prototype app as part time job during studies and user testing it in Finnish school class (Jyväskylän Normaalikoulu). There are many existing solutions and countless resources containing learning materials, games, online courses etc. However, in many cases students have to search for those materials themselves and even the websites aggregating learning content in form of links to other resources often have inappropriate or not working links, which is a problem especially with the young children. This happens because the Internet is constantly changing, making it hard to maintain big lists of links. In this paper we present USUKO: a centralized platform for accessing structured, classified and quality-controlled digital learning material for primary and secondary education in Finland. The system is designed to be used on desktop computers and mobile devices. The learning content is carefully selected according to official Finnish education schema and includes tasks, videos, tutorials, links and games. We also describe the results of testing the first system pilot in schools of Central Finland.

Web developer summer internship during second year in Uni. Took part in a 5 person multilingual team developing a prototype web app. Developed a structured model of study topics based on Finnish school curriculum.Technologies:- UI prototyping tools- HTML5, Javascript and CSS with AngularJS, Bootstrap 3 and LESS.- Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 4 REST API Backend- Microsoft SQL Server Database- VirtualBox for getting Microsoft web stack running on *nix.
