I was accountable for the delivery of the IP8 Air Systems and Bearing Load Management System for the Trent XWB-84EP, an enhanced performance engine with the objective of improving SFC by 1% relative to its parent engine - the Trent XWB-84, the world's most efficient large civil aero-engine.In this role I used specialised technical knowledge, software and techniques including 1D flow network modelling and CFD whilst integrating with a wide variety of teams internally and externally to Rolls-Royce.

I completed 4 placements on the Supply Chain Engineering Graduate Scheme. These included:Critical Part Lifing & Integrity – I created lifing algorithms for 16 critical features as part of a turbine life extension programme using knowledge of finite element analysis and solid mechanics.Design & Make – I worked in a team of 4 to design and manufacture a compact heat exchanger prototype layer using a novel manufacturing method for the Civil Nuclear business. This project showcased my teamwork skills and ability to produce high quality work to precise deadlines.Compressor Components R&T – I was accountable for the design, manufacture and testing of a novel damping method for blisks. The four-person team I worked in was nominated for a Henry Royce Technical Innovation award. My proactivity on this project was vital to the project delivering early.Producibility, Rotatives – I worked on a number of projects to improve manufacturability of shafts and discs, including liaising with suppliers to deliver considerable improvements in condition of supply definitions.

During a 12 week internship I created a numerical model using MATLAB to model the heat transfer in a new manufacturing process. This implemented knowledge of modelling and heat transfer gained at university.

I excelled in the role of test engineer at AEC’s testing facility, Shaftmoor Lane, Birmingham. The main duty of this role involved liaising with project engineers to design and implement a test plan to simulate in flight conditions on a hydro-mechanical testing rig for an AEC product. These tests included research and development, in flight testing and qualification procedures.The tasks completed involved specifying instrumentation, practical problem solving and data analysis. Within the highly pressurised time scales of the projects I was able to work to deadlines whilst improving skills in communication, presenting and report writing.
