Lieutenant Platoon Commander
Nypd Capital Planning And Oversight
Responsible for developing and implementing strategic projects and policies focused on improving the New York City Police Department’s functionality while ensuring the Department’s customer-service-driven approach is reflected through best practices. The primary overarching mission is to ensure the financial strength of the New York City Police Department through the judicious management and oversight of all Department budgeting, financial planning, procurement of goods and services, capital construction, property management, payment for expenditures, and the processing of contracts.
Nypd Strategic Initiatives
In this role I worked to shape and implement long-term priority initiatives for the New York City Police Department. Projects spanned a variety of subject matter areas, and included assessing current agency policies, interpreting new legislation, researching best practices, testing promising new initiatives, and developing long-term strategies to accomplish the key goals of the New York City Police Commissioner.
Nypd Counterterrorism
Charged with conceptualizing, building, and managing all operations of the Tactical Operations Section (TOS), which is the training arm of the New York Police Department Counterterrorism Bureau's special weapons and tactics group. A key deliverable was to ensure the successful training of all members of the Critical Response Command (500+). Duties included managing tactical operations section deployments, FIDO screening, hostile surveillance detection, improvised explosive device identification and detection, CBRNE response, high-stress decision making exercises, critical incident containment, and training through classroom instruction, scenario-based tactical training and life-saving medical technique courses. In order to address an urgent need for interoperability training, members of the TOS developed a joint-training course for the Critical Response Command, the Strategic Response Group, the World Trade Center Command, and other tactical personnel (1500+). After reviewing NYPD standard operating procedures and national best-practices, operations protocols were implemented to promote interoperability with various tactical units within the New York City Police Department.
Police Sergeant
Assigned to the Midtown North Precinct where I supervised special operations personnel in an area that stretched from Times Square to Columbus Circle, and East along Central Park South to Lexington Avenue. Serving as a Conditions Sergeant in “the crossroads of world” was a humbling experience. It was in this tense environment that I was tasked with developing a comprehensive solution to the ongoing peddler issues in Times Square. Quality of life issues that existed along the fringes of enforceable behavior became a point of contention for residents, business owners, and other neighborhood stakeholders. In turn, these quality-of-life issues drew the attention of the commander, the borough, Department executives and prominent members of the community. Following several meetings with executive members of the Times Square Alliance, the city council, and department executives, I established an actionable plan to develop designated areas for artists that essentially preserved their first amendment rights while accommodating pedestrian traffic and ensuring that area residents still enjoy a high quality of life.
Police Detective
Assigned as an undercover in the Brooklyn North Narcotics Unit. I was tasked with infiltrating criminal organizations for the purpose of obtaining evidence and intelligence used to dismantle criminal networks. While serving as a Detective, some of my duties included investigating various organized crime related complaints, conducting covert surveillance operations, gathering intelligence related to violent crimes and patterns, long term case-buy operations, infiltrating criminal organizations and gathering pertinent facts leading to numerous felony convictions.
