I am a Sustainability Consultant and Mechanical Engineer with over 20 years experience in the Construction Industry. I moved to New Zealand in July 2014 and am now Director of Market Transformation at the New Zealand Green Building Council with a responsibility for running their sustainability and energy assessment tools - Green Star, Homestar, HomeFit and Nabers.I have a particular passion for sustainable housing having spent 6 years creating and managing the sustainability framework for a 3,000 home development for the University of Cambridge in the UK.I also have extensive experience of sustainability and energy strategies, including carbon policy work for the UK and New Zealand governments, sustainable urban design and low energy and passive building design.My expertise includes:- Sustainable urban masterplanning- Sustainability advice to both the public and private sectors - Energy and renewables assessments- Energy legislation and policy- Low energy and passive building design- Sustainability and energy assessments including BREEAM, Code for Sustainable Homes, Green Star, Homestar and Nabers- Carbon managementNotable work includes advising UK government on zero carbon building regulations and updating the 2015 iteration of the energy section of the UK building code. I also spent 6 years advising the University of Cambridge on the biggest investment the University has made in its history; a 3000 home development on the edge of the city of Cambridge to provide housing for its key workers.
