I started off my motor industry career with an apprenticeship based at Amersham Audi where I spent nearly 6 years. It was a great experience but as the story goes an apprentice seems to always be thought of as the apprentice. This is when I decided that change was needed so I moved over to Melbourne, Australia after being offered a job for the Audi dealership in the city centre. It was an extraordinary experience not just at work but in general. I learnt a lot in the workplace, having 2 apprentices at one time could tip most people over the edge but I enjoyed the challenge. This is where I started getting interested in other departments of the dealership, on Saturdays I would play the role of a service advisor and speak to customers, quoting prices and take bookings. After working at the Melbourne Audi centre for 2 1/2 years I decided that before I settle down with a wife and kids I needed to see a little bit of the world, I packed up all of my worldly belongings and went on my merry way through Asia for 6 months where a large period was spent on an island called Koh Tao, it has a very special place in my heart, it started off a real love relationship with the sea and where I carried out my dive master program. Some of the best experiences have been swimming underneath the waves, such a calming experience. After such a wonderful time spent not doing a great deal I came back to blighty where I started off another career in another main dealership, VW Watford this time it didn't feel quite the same, this wasnt to do with the VW main dealer or anyone that worked within it but I now had a sense of individuality and independence. I decided that it was time to give it a go all on my own, after a few months I didn't feel quite ready to run my own business as it didn't feel I had actually gathered enough work/life experience at that particular moment so I looked for a job with a bit of both. On searching the internet I found patrols were needed in NW London so i applied. A few months later I recieved an email advising me that an interview was awaiting me. After the nerve racking round of interviews, tests I got a phone call a few days later advising me that I had got the job as an RSS patrol. I carried out the role for 3 1/2 years and loved it. the opportunity presented itself to go for a promotion to Performance Leader and here I am today. the job is great, it has its challenges but so does everything in life. It's been a hard 18 months trying to get my head around all the policy and procedures but I always enjoy learning something new and change is good.
