Insolvency Practitioner and Chartered Accountant. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008, and since then I have specialised in restructuring and insolvency. I also assist with expert witness work including loss of profit claims, consequential loss claims in respect of PPI/IRHP mis-selling and proceeds of crime cases. This work can be quite high profile and interesting, but I spend most of my time doing insolvency work.I qualified as a Licenced Insolvency Practitioner in 2012.The majority of my work involves assisting insolvent companies and individuals, be that formally through an insolvency process or informally advising on other solutions. My firm undertakes all formal insolvency processes such as Liquidations, Administrations, Bankruptcies and Voluntary Arrangements. My personal preference is to work on Voluntary Arrangements, as this can be the best way to save businesses and get the best return to creditors. However, Voluntary Arrangements work best where there is something worth saving and clear changes can be made to the business to secure it going forward. I can assist with this but if advice is sought too late then often I can only assist with the closure and liquidation of a business. Where this is the case it is my job to sympathetically and professionally guide the business to closure, maximising the return to creditors and minimising the disruption to employees and other stakeholders.As a firm we also deal with solvent liquidations as part of tax planning and retirement planning for companies that have run their natural course.I am always keen to hear from other professionals that have an interest in insolvency or restructuring. As an Insolvency Practitioner I rely on the services of other professionals, such as lawyers, accountants and asset valuers. As such I am part of a network of professionals and I refer individuals and companies to my contacts on a regular basis, either as part of my work or if my services are not required.
