Through my education at the University of Sheffield, as well as my earlier education at GCSE and A-Level, I have developed a keen sense of business and the corporate world. In particular, the high importance of projects, transactions, and objective focus within the corporate environment appeals to me. Ultimately, this has led me to the sphere of management and strategy.While at the University of Sheffield, I have had the great opportunity and privilege to work across three disciplines: Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. This experience has allowed me to gain insights into the differing ways in which people think, work, and operate across these three very different subjects. I believe this closely links to the management and strategy industry, with its ever-changing and dynamic nature.During my Easter internship with Justina at the Zink Project in Buxton, I was able to further develop the research skills I had learned from my university studies. My contribution to the research project involved assisting in interviews and transcribing those interviews for subsequent analysis. These tasks enabled me to enhance my accuracy and precision in writing, ensuring that no mistakes were made, as this would have adversely impacted later analysis. Indeed, this work was done under a deadline, which further allowed me to improve under pressure.To build upon my studies and interests, I created Effective Simplicity in September 2024. This is a Substack blog aimed at those interested in business, health, lifestyle, and self-improvement. While it began as a passion project to supplement my academic writing, it has undoubtedly required me to better manage my time. Balancing the growth of my blog audience with the fulfillment of my academic requirements has challenged me, but it has also enabled me to become more objective-focused, efficient, and rigorous in self-reflection.Finally, throughout my experience in part-time hospitality, I have gained invaluable skills that have helped me in university and in life more broadly. The sometimes demanding and pressuring nature of my hospitality roles at Kilworth House Hotel and Hot Bagels has allowed me to view pressure as an opportunity to thrive, rather than something to shy away from. Frequent interaction with customers has improved my soft skills and communication in environments that are constantly changing and present different challenges.
