I was a freelance in the publishing division where I worked across a number of in-house titles. I managed the production process by circulating proofs to be checked by editorial and art departments, communicated art changes and sent files to the repro house, ensured print orders were in place and negotiated print extensions where necessary.

• I produced advertising pages for monthly and weekly magazines such as Classic & Sports Car and Motorsport News. • Cross communicated with advertisers, sales teams and colleagues in order to create striking adverts using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.• Copy chased any adverts, copy or images that had yet to come in via phone or email.• Sent out print orders to and checked paper stocks with the contracted printer, Wyndeham.• Visited printers to check the quality of print was to the standard that was expected.• Proofed adverts and magazine pages to ensure they were free of errors and met print specifications.• Flat planned with the sales team to ensure advertisements were placed correctly.• Advised external advertisers on the content and the specifications required.• Sent all pages to deadline, ensured that they had reached the printers and organised any extensions needed for either party.• Put pages through Zinio print queues so they could be used for digital editions of the magazine.

• I created sports pages and graphics, to deadline, for the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and many other national and local newspapers. • All deadlines were daily so you had to have the ability to prioritise, cope with pressure and work shifts.• Produced bespoke products using journalist’s copy and images, sourcing images from clients, photo agencies and our photographic libraries.• Responsible for proofing all of my work and wrote articles, headlines and captions when asked to by clients.• Pages were produced using InDesign, Photoshop and XML files that were tidied on the page. • Sharpened and brightened images to make them suitable for print.• Communicated with the client, the sizes and design specifications of their pages.• Responsible for the team's workflow in the absence of a manager.• Assisted colleagues to ensure all deadlines were completed by the team.
