Cover for the assistant supervisor role for the LPG/Bitumen Storage Plant. This includes running a panel for the above areas & also dealing with issuing and controlling the work permits within this area.- Help Identify opportunities to optimize production on a daily/ monthly basis by adjusting Plant throughout within the limits specified.My Role includes:- Assist in the preparation and implementation of start ups/shutdowns for new units and changes to equipment; operating and maintenance procedures.- Assist Operations in working with Engineering, Maintenance and Construction Groups to ensure that facilities are fit for purpose and operable- Assist Operations in coordinating with Construction and Maintenance Groups to ensure that any necessary shut downs and repairs are carried out efficiently.- Assist Operations in ensuring that P&ID's and schematics are kept up to date & regularly re-issued.- To ensure that Permit to Work System is adhered to and controlling the issuing of permits in line with Day Supervisor. - Coordinating with APT that all cargo/oil movements are completed correctly and safely according to the daily planning schedule.- Running of Bitumen/LPG storage panel.

I then moved onto the oil movements department within the refinery. I then move into the rail department within the company. The responsibilities included: • Checking the rails are deemed safe run. • Also overseeing the bays where the rail cars are loaded.• Taking equipment of service for maintanence in a safe manner. • Checking area for any leaks or faulty bits of equipment.• Running the Control Panel of the Rail Facility.

After successfully completing a 3 year apprenticeship I gained a permanent position with Total as a Process Operator. I undertook a 3 year process operations apprenticeship which was sponsored by Total. This included an 18 month period of gaining the following qualifications: - Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Processing Industries Operations (QCF)- City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Process Technology- City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Process TechnologyThen another 18 months gaining a general overview of all the different areas, departments and processes of the whole refinery.
