In this role I worked closely with the executive, Lord Mayor and elected Council to deliver a range of strategic media solutions to protect and enhance the City of Melbourne's reputation.I was responsible for managing complex and issues rich portfolios, and delivered creative publicity campaigns to build brand awareness, drive visitation and increase the city's profile.My role requires managing a high volume of media enquiries while pitching proactive media stories for local, metropolitan and national media.I have built trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and enjoy effective and productive relationships with a range of key media contacts.Significant achievements include: - Managing a range of complex and high-profile issues, minimising risk to the organisation's reputation through creative and proactive media strategies. Specific examples available on request.- Creating, planning and executing a media approach for three successive Council budgets, building a narrative that tells the story of Council's $450m annual investment in programs, services and infrastructure.- Delivering successful proactive media opportunities for print, radio, TV and online, securing high-profile for Council activities, in most cases with no budget.

In this role I managed complex and sensitive media and communications for Corrections Victoria.I was responsible for providing strategic media advice at executive and ministerial level in response to high-profile media issues in an environment constrained by operational requirements such as security and confidentiality.Significant achievements include:- Managing complex media issues, including issues related to high-profile prisoners in custody, escapes, deaths and other incidents. - Formed relationships with key executives to provide responsive and timely advice on fast-breaking issues.- Developed excellent working relationships with ministerial offices and external stakeholders.- Delivered on a number of successful proactive media strategies to highlight initiatives such as the Department of Justice’s Championship Moves public safety education project, Fire Action Week, Play It Safe By The Water and the Choices and Knives Scar Lives anti-weapons campaigns.

Responsibilities, skills and key achievements included:- Covering Australia’s 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign as a reporter, travelling internationally for long periods, filing from the qualifiers in Uruguay and Australia, friendlies in Europe, Australia and the UK and the World Cup in Germany.- Developing and delivering a thorough editorial strategy to cover the 2006 FIFA World Cup.- Organising logistics and travel arrangements on a strict budget.- Liaising with the organising committee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup to ensure accreditation, promotional marketing and branding requirements were met.- Managing a weekly sports section aimed at a readership of over 250,000.- Preparing weekly editorial features, news stories and online content.- Managing a pool of editorial freelancers across three continents.
