Support includes desktop support, PI System Administration, PI interfaces, RTU configuration and support, Active Directory, networking, Project Management and day to day general support as required by the business.On-call 24x7 in support of these plants.  

Responsible for the support of generation facilities at three power plants and five wind farms. Support included: desktop support, PI System Administration, PI interfaces, RTU configuration and support, support for Upstream Asset Management and Engineering, and general day to day user support.Designed and implemented an Electronic Rounds system for the power plants which utilized hand held computers for scanning barcodes and data input in to the Performance Information (PI) system. This project allowed me to be nominated for the Direct Energy Platinum Award.System Administrator for eight Performance Information (PI) systems, as well as, client software. Installed and supported the systems, user community, tag creation and tuning.Part of a team implementing and supporting the Monarch Generation Management System and setting up the Qualified Scheduling Entity. The Direct Energy Platinum Award was given to me for this project.Implemented a prototype intranet web based system for “Paper Vision” in the electronic storing and administration of electronic Engineering diagrams at one the generation sites.Integral member of the team for the purchase and integration of all the power generation assets at Direct Energy: three power plants and five wind farms.

Solely responsible for implementing a Disaster Recovery site with twenty five desk tops at a secured location where Direct Energy’s business could be continued without interruption.Worked as a team member with other consultants and employees based in Toronto and Calgary Canada to setup complete redundancy for critical systems. This included complete fail over for applications and databases between the United States and Canada. Developed and implemented processes for Business Continuity within the Information Technology and user areas. Authored procedures for source code migration, production support issue tracking and weekly ranking of tasks with department heads.

Developed, modified and supported 18+ critical gas, power and financial systems while filling positions in the Development and Operations groups. Selected by the Swiss bank that acquired Enron’s energy trading systems to create, modify, test and migrate source code written in T-SQL, PowerBuilder, Unix Shell Scripts, PL-SQL, Oracle and Brio SQR to correct production issues and facilitate the smooth integration of Enron systems into the UBS environment. Held a position in the Operations group to troubleshoot, document, modify and support daily operations of various systems and worked with 30+ end-users in the United States, Canada and England to test, approve and migrate new source code. Integral member of team charged with modifying source code of Enron Billing and Payment systems and interfaces during transition to UBS using PowerBuilder, Java, T-SQL, Unix, Tibco, SQL Server, Oracle and PL-SQL technologies.Considered a resident expert in the Accounting, Billing and Payment, SAP interfaces, Brio SQR reporting, and tax calculation and reporting systems.Performed system analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, data modeling and database design for applications as the need dictated using T-SQL, SQL Server, PowerBuilder, PL-SQL, Oracle, Unix Shell scripting, Windows NT and Brio SQR.

Supported 15+ critical Gas, Power and Financial systems and 50+ users located in the United States and Canada in the handling of large amounts of transactions maintained in Sybase, SQL Server and Oracle databases. Power invoices containing 15,000+ line items were not uncommon. Performed system analysis, design, coding, data modeling and database design for applications using T-SQL, SQL Server, Sybase, PowerBuilder, PL-SQL, Oracle, Unix Shell, Windows and Brio SQR.  Developed, modified and supported stored procedures and triggers in Sybase and SQL Server databases to support gas, financial and power transactionsMentored junior specialists and developers in all business and technical areas involved in the support of production systems. Efforts led to the promotion of at least one person to Senior Specialist/Developer position.Directed a staff of 10 to 12 internal and contract programmers in supporting and enhancing critical Focus mainframe systems in all areas of oil, gas and power handling. Performed ad hoc programming; held regular team meetings; and managed budgets, work assignments and timelines. Negotiated with recruiters and consultants for staffing needs, coded invoices for payment, handled daily personnel issues, supported 50+ users with their daily needs and insured all processes were operating to company specifications. Developed tax source code using PowerBuilder, Brio SQR, T-SQL, Sybase, SQL Server and EDI for the system’s local and federal tax calculation and reporting modules, directly interacting with taxing authorities to ensure compliance throughout the US and Canada. Integral member of a two Senior Developer team in the conversion of interfaces from MSA to SAP. Developed, modified and supported source code written in PowerBuilder, Unix Shell, bat files, Brio SQR and T-SQL. Developed and supported numerous stored procedures and processes for interfacing data bi-directionally using Sybase and SQL Server databases.

Performed GSE Administration duties including but not limited to tracking ground support equipment throughout Continentals system, coordinating moves to satisfy business requirements, making recommendations for more efficient processes, and working with the various shop locations to control work orders and equipment maintenance.Justified the purchase of a Fleet Management system and personally implemented it throughout the various shops within the United States. The system was on a Honeywell DPS6 mini computer running GCOS.Tracked and controlled all vehicle registrations and titles for Continentals road legal fleet. Worked with the various state authorities to register and correct discrepancies. Evaluated, developed and supported all business systems software within the Customer Service Division to streamline communication and daily operations for this major commercial airline with a worldwide presence.Gathered end user requirements to select software packages and program custom applications as in-house management and systems consultant for staff groups, regional offices and field cities. Prepared justifications for purchasing hardware and software.Directly managed up to 5+ Senior Developers and consultants. Performed budgeting, invoice processing, personnel issue resolutions, vendor negotiations, work assignments and training.Performed full life cycle development of cost-effective, high performance solutions for the Customer Service Division. Gathered user requirements, designed and implemented the system, conducted user training and supported programs. Systems were primarily written in mainframe Focus, PC Focus and Microsoft C.Credited with enabling the transfer of critical information across unlike platforms by programming applications in Microsoft C to interface between Continental’s separate SNA and ALC networks.
