I work as a research assistant to Carnegie's senior fellows in the Russia and Eurasia Program. Throughout this yearlong fellowship, I will also have the opportunity to co-author journal articles and policy papers, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to congressional testimony, and organize briefings attended by scholars, journalists, and government officials.

Evaluating 1-3 fiction submissions per week. Responsible for solicitating new work, researching underrepresented literatures, and matching translators with writers. Currently working with several Georgian authors and translators to bring their work into English for the first time.

Teaches 3 evening classes a week for groups of 5-7 students. Responsible for preparing each lesson. Recognized for readiness and ability to connect with students.

Researching, translating, and categorizing Kenyon College's collection of Eastern Orthodox religious artifacts under supervision of the Department of Art History. Completed seven full-length object report forms on various icons and Orthodox manuscripts using skills in Old Church Slavonic acquired while studying at the University of Oxford. In spring 2023 successfully negotiated with supervisors for higher pay for all Visual Resources Curators and Assistants.

Works one-on-one with students of all skill levels, including ESL (English as a Second Language) students. Sessions vary from grammar-focused close reading to broad discussions of possible outlines for larger writing assignments; shows flexibility and adaptability in meeting the needs of each student. Working as a course liaison (specialized tutor) for multiple English literature classes.

Launched Results & Discussion, a free podcast series dedicated to exploring complex topics in science through a human lens. Researched, wrote, recorded, and produced an hourlong first episode covering the neuroscience, linguistics, and history of American Sign Language. Composed and performed all music for the episode. Created a website with transcripts, visual aids, and further reading for interested listeners.

Serves as a first reader for 8 submissions per week. Presenting outstanding submissions to editors with substantial notes. Recognized for exceptional timeliness and excellent comments, and reviewed 16 submissions a week for the entire spring 2021 semester. Hosted an online interview with award-winning writers Ilya Kaminsky and Molly McCully Brown for 150+ viewers.

Organized 3 annual contests in poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction. Delegated 600+ submissions each competition to readers, and retained contact with readers to ensure all reading was completed before final deadline. Passed up top 10 submissions to editors and guest judges, incl. Roxanne Gay, Karen Russell, and Leslie Jamison. Exceptional performance recognized when invited in spring of 2023 to replace a former intern.

Worked full-time (12 hours per day) at one of the largest refugee centers on the Poland-Ukraine Border. Successfully relocated 75+ Ukrainian refugees to new homes, via communication with other charity organizations. Processed documents in Ukrainian, Russian, and Polish. Interpreted for English-speaking administrative staff in communications with refugees and non-Anglophone organizations. Worked 150+ hours in 3 weeks.
