A licensed professional engineer with over 47 years of experience in the electric power industry. Retired in 2012 from DNV KEMA as an Executive Consultant responsible for consulting services offered to electric utilities to ensure their conformance to the compulsory North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards. Appointed by NERC as chair of the Standard Drafting Team responsible for the revision of Standard EOP-008, Loss of Control Center Functionality. Experience with DNV KEMA included the planning, procurement, and implementation management of Energy Management Systems (EMS) for both domestic and international electric utilities. An EMS provides monitoring, analysis, and control support for the operation of the bulk power and distribution systems. Prior to joining KEMA, worked as a Senior Engineer for GE Switchgear, Philadelphia responsible for testing and design. Presently, an Adjunct Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Villanova University. Currently, a member of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Auxiliary. Duties include Flotilla Commander, Division Member-Training Staff Officer, search and rescue/safety patrol boat crew member, vessel inspector, and safe boating instructor. Also, provides electrical engineering support to active duty and reserves at USCG Sector Delaware Bay Prevention Department including electricity instruction and electrical compliance inspections.
