Rolling Green is a very well manicured nursery, especially in the 2018 season while I was employed there. I, with the rest of the crew, worked tirelessly to keep the grounds in a state of perfection. The lawn was trimmed once or twice per week, leaves were raked every single day, and flower beds were frequently laid with fresh mulch. Much of the work was very physically involved. Trees contained in root balls had to be moved several times between unloading from a delivery truck and into a customer's vehicle. Good customer service was absolutely required, especially when a customer came in with questions about a plant or product they were interested in buying. I quickly learned about the specimens of plants we sold to be able to help answer questions.Though I only worked at Rolling Green Nursery for one season, I took a lot away from my experiences there. I learned a great deal about the operation and success of a small business, how to operate various types of equipment, and how to succeed in a retail setting. I consider my position here as a big stepping stone in my career development.

I worked for New England’s largest living history museum, Old Sturbridge Village (OSV), where I educated visitors about daily life in early U.S. history, both verbally and through demonstration, and how life in the 19th century relates to life today. I worked in various stations around the village including a recreated 19th century farm, the water-powered saw, grist and carding mills, and the pottery shop. On occasion I have assisted in special events put on around holidays, acted in an interactive play, ran an overnight cub scout camp out, and filled in at the museum's affiliated elementary charter school.
