Honorary faculty member of the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne

Responsible for designing, directing, teaching in and assessing the NCDs and Global Health subject in the University of Melbourne's Master of Public Health Program, which i launched in 2014. This post-graduate subject is one of the first in Australia to focus on the prevention and control of NCDs from multidisciplinary perspectives, and features leading national and international practitioners and academics.

I was Manager, Commonwealth Royal Commissions at DHHS from July 2020-February 2021. In February, I moved to DFFH as machinery of government changes occurred and had responsibility for engagement with the the Disability Royal Commission, until finishing this role in October 2021.

Writing, editing and research to finalise five high quality Country Strategies, plus one Partnership Framework.

As the Nossal's technical lead on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), I managed program and policy activities around NCDs, and the broader global health agenda.Specific responsibilities included management of a capacity building program with the Tongan Health Ministry, partnership development with governmental and non governmental stakeholders in Asia and the Pacific, engagement with donors, proposal development, drafting of policy and research papers, publication of peer reviewed and opinion articles in global health (NCDs, ebola, global health governance), development of one of Australia's only NCDs Master of Public Health courses which commenced in 2014, teaching in multiple MPH subjects, recruiting and supervising interns.

Research and analysis for Indonesia Knowledge Sector health policy mapping. Includes stakeholder interviews, document analysis, and drafting of case study on funding of health centres.

As Global Advocacy Adviser I managed policy, advocacy and strategic planning processes across the eye health and vision care sector. I successfully advocated for the elevation of blindness prevention on the Australian Government’s agenda, including securing a $21.3 million allocation in the 2011 Aid Budget, and achieving reference to blindness prevention and the work of Vision 2020 Australia and our members in key AusAID and Parliamentary reports and policy documents. I contributed to business development by securing a 3-year $7 million allocation for Vision 2020 Australia’s Global Consortium, and developed program workplans in the Asia-Pacific.I also enhanced collaboration and partnership among our members and external stakeholders, and managed capacity building and strategic planning workshops for government and non-government eye health and disability stakeholders across the Asia Pacific.

At YHDRA I undertook research, advocacy and health promotion on environmental health in Southwest China. Specific activities included development of an Environmental Health newsletter, delivery of capacity building workshops at YHDRA and Yunnan Institute for Development, design and implementation of fieldwork projects including a water and sanitation survey at Dian Lake, a study of food safety in factories, and a study of soil erosion around Fu Xian Lake.

At Jiaxing University I taught English and Western History and Culture to classes of up to 50 students. I also ran English Corner sessions, taught 1-1 private lessons, studied Mandarin, represented the University in provincial tennis tournaments, and traveled extensively.
