Primary responsibilities: consulting with corporate clients to assist in refreshing their corporate-supported staff giving program.Using platform-collected data, I determined relationships between the client's staff and their interest in charitable organisations (e.g., seniority, geography, preferred engagement method, etc). I also established a temporal view of the client's staff philanthropy program - identifying changes over time and noting any significant changes. These insights provided a clear baseline understanding of staff preferences. Once the data was organised, regular meetings were held with clients to understand why these relationships existed. I provided a critical eye for interpreting the data. Data itself doesn't say anything - it is the human's interpretation that holds meaning. Whether it's due to unaccounted variables or bias, poorly interpreted data can completely mislead a company strategy. My most important responsibility was ensuring the data was properly contexualised within its limitations.As a result, clients were able to quickly and easily choose a small number of charity partners from a list of thousands that aligned accurately with both corporate strategy and staff preferences.

This paper highlights ongoing research into the consumer psychology of charitable giving in the workplace. It is aimed at corporates interested in starting or growing their workplace giving program, and charities who are interested in better managing their corporate partnerships.

Understanding what a customer wanted was critical, and follow-up questions were important to help the customer articulate their needs.
