I have 20 years of software engineering experience, specializing in big data, unstructured search engines, and large architectures for eDiscovery, archiving, regulatory compliance, and internal surveillance. I began my career coding enterprise management applications, and made the transition into leadership roles in product management 14 years ago. As a product manager, I drove major growth in two products back-to-back over the next 6 years, before switching to a more customer-facing role to nurture high-profile, high-value customers. Most recently, I have directly managed several teams of developers implementing the same type of large scale big data applications that I have focused on for my entire career.

Director Of Product ManagementPandion Jan 2022 - PresentSeattle, Wa, UsAfter launch, I transitioned into a long-term role focused on the growth and expansion of our product. During this time, I expanded our coverage from the northeast to nationwide, grew from 1 final mile carrier to over a dozen, added signature service and hazmat and a universal label. -
Senior Technical Program ManagerPandion Feb 2021 - Jan 2022Seattle, Wa, UsI was hired as employee #3 to build Pandion's initial minimum viable product (MVP) to sort and deliver packages from eCommerce shippers to recipients. I managed a team of 12 offshore developers in Serbia who built the product in 6 months to achieve our goal of going live before peak of 2021. My product included the label creation and package status APIs for customers, the Android app to sort the packages in our sort centers, and the public tracking website for recipients. We successfully launched on time and had the most rapid revenue growth that our venture partners (Playground Global) had ever seen. -
Software Engineering Manager - ControlpointMicro Focus Aug 2018 - Jan 2021Newbury, Berkshire, GbManage the worldwide development teams in Boston, Belfast, and Bangalore for ControlPoint, an information governance application which allows IT departments to find and clean up redundant, obsolete, and trivial data, as well as locate and secure sensitive personal information across the enterprise to provide compliance with GDPR and similar regulations. My team handles all new feature releases, patches, and customer escalations. I regularly meet with customers both remotely and onsite to deliver solutions that meet their needs. As an example, we recently had a very unhappy customer that was attempting to load 400 TB of data into their system, which was under performing and experiencing frequent outages. I led the effort that brought the customer's satisfaction from red to green by eliminating the outages and increasing throughput 6-fold. Over the course of six months, This customer went from initiating the process for terminating our contract to agreeing to a cross-sales opportunity. My development team is Agile based, using C#, Java, and C++, with Autonomy IDOL as the underlying platform for search & data processing. -
Architect & Engineering ManagerMicro Focus (Formerly Hp / Hewlett Packard Enterprise) Jan 2016 - Aug 2018Newbury, England, GbDesigned and built a next-generation cloud-based archiving and eDiscovery platform. As part of the transition from HPE to Micro Focus, MF decided to design and build a next generation product to replace a legacy product, Digital Safe, which would be based on a more modern architecture with an object store and separate search index. I was one of the lead designers and filed US patent application #2018/0113931 based on one of the innovative features we built during its creation. I managed two of the five teams that built the initial two versions of the product. Due to factors outside of the engineering team, the project was shelved and not released to market. The project was written in Java and C#, and used Lucene, Docker, Mesos, and Kubernetes, written with wrappers around S3, Azure, and Swift. -
Escalation ManagerHewlett Packard Enterprise Dec 2012 - Jan 2016Houston, Texas, UsCoordinated the engineering response to customer escalations for the Digital Safe product line. Digital Safe is a large email archiving, surveillance, and eDiscovery platform for the financial vertical, with over 60 developers, and 200 total devops engineers. Sixty percent of our revenue was derived from four of the largest banks in the US, which resulted in a considerable engineering focus on customer support issues, creating patches, and providing root cause analysis of system failures. This was a high-stress, customer focused role, where I ensured that this work was done in a timely manner, met with customers on a regular basis, and coordinated across customer support, systems operations, and sales engineering to ensure that customer satisfaction remained high. -
Senior Product ManagerHp Autonomy Mar 2009 - Dec 2012Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, GbAfter Autonomy’s acquisition of Interwoven and later Stratify, I managed the integration of Discovery Mining and Stratify into Autonomy’s end-to-end eDiscovery product suite.I designed, built, and took to market the new product, Autonomy eDiscovery, an integrated product covering the functionality of Discovery Mining, Stratify, Investigator, and Introspect. As part of the design work, I was granted US Patent #9,015,190, for an novel search interface. This product was built in an effort that I coordinated across San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Bangalore and UK offices. I managed a product team of six, providing design & specification to 70 developers.Product was trusted for the highest stakes litigation in the world, with several $1b+ cases, with our largest being a $20b+ settlement. Between net new customers, and converting our existing customer base, I was able to take the product from $25m to $100m in revenue.I overcame challenges around scaling the product to 500 concurrent users, coordinating development and design across teams scattered around the globe, and working within four widely divergent corporate cultures.Products used Autonomy’s IDOL platform, Lucene, Java, C++, SQL Server, MySQL, and Citrix. -
Director Of Product ManagementDiscovery Mining May 2006 - Mar 2009UsLed the organic product growth of approximately 48% CAGR of a hosted eDiscovery review product from initial profitability to acquisition by Interwoven for $36m. As the engineering department's headcount expanded from eight to twenty, I grew the product management team from myself to three. My team oversaw user stories, acceptance testing, daily standup, and weekly release planning. In addition to day-to-day execution, my team validated requirements with business users and communicated the product roadmap to the board and executive team. After the acquisition by Interwoven, we built an ECA product to expand our eDiscovery product portfolio beyond document review, but did not take it to market due to the acquisition of Interwoven by Autonomy shortly afterwards. The eDiscovery product was based on Linux, Lucene, Stellent, Hadoop, and MySQL, with a front end review tool built with Java & Javascript using an Agile methodology where we deployed to production weekly. Back end was a Perl & C# data operations pipeline to extract text & metadata, image documents, and package files into productions. -
FounderBlue Mobius Technologies Jun 2004 - May 2006Founded a software products company targeting small business systems administration tools. My first product was a network based backup utility written in C#.
