In this role, I crafted tailor-made reports on a weekly basis for the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), monitoring and analyzing any proceedings throughout the House of Commons and Senate that might pertain to the organization’s mandate (Hansards, journals, etc). I consulted relevant developments in legislation, news, and various other official avenues. Alongside this, I coordinated lobby reports by analyzing new registrations/communications on the Lobby Commissioner’s website, then determined which additions were news and/or story-worthy based on prevailing trends, and discerning patterns by manipulating data in pivot tables.Other responsibilities during my tenure included:- Monitoring committee meetings in the House of Commons for second-party clients, crafting reports and summaries of proceedings to be delivered mere hours after meetings (if not sooner)- Assisting in the coordination, creation, and editing of political candidate profiles for the company’s GovGuide application — a comprehensive, subscription-based database of Canadian MPs and Senators, as well as a political tracking tool- Transcribing and summarizing question period proceedings from the House feed in real time

I have contributed journalism centered on politics, human interest, and culture to publications such as Ottawa Magazine, Where, Ottawa Life, and Damn Mag. I ran a personal blog for several years which fixated on examining music through a sociological lens.I also published a children's book, Holey Moley, through Algonquin College, while writing and contributing editing services to the official site of the college’s Professional Writing program (Spine Online). During this time, I substantive and copy edited college peers’ work at a flat rate as a so-called side hustle.Prior to this, I coordinated press and tour packages for an independent Canadian rock band.

This role saw me contributing informative and editorial writing to Ottawa and Where magazines, fact-checking proofs, assessing pitches from freelancers, and brainstorming amongst staff the conceptualization and financing of each issue of Ottawa and Where.Specialized projects included the Passport 2017 project — an app which functioned as a detailed guide to events in celebration of Canada's sesquicentennial birthday. Here, I researched, created, and edited event submissions, and contributed editorial content for the front page.
