Over time, the remote Oracle Advanced Technologies business grew to over 125 consultants and over 40 accounts. Accounts always started as implementation / conversion, or upgrade projects then settled into operational support with ongoing development. Mr. Clem continued to be hands-on technical to the very end. Through most of his 18 years, he led the largest accounts – Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Bimbo Bakery (BBU), and Western Union (WU) and specifically led the implementation, upgrade, or conversion projects before moving to the next account. He also helped start newly awarded smaller accounts while staffing for the long term. In later years as manager, he billed his time to this or that account as Enterprise Architect, Middleware Team Manager, or Crisis Manager, but in his non-billable time he still performed Solution Architect work for internal and external sales, Troubleshooting and Performance Tuning in support of his team, and he ran the team lab – 4 little linux boxes where Oracle products were tested and functional consultants could perform their certification exercises.He was laid off from HP in August, 2016 as HP divested itself of the service business and sold most of HPE to Computer Sciences Corp.
