When I graduated from Baylor University, I knew that I wanted to work in the public relations, recruiting, and professional training/learning and development fields. I have a passion for working with others, and my ability to communicate effectively has always been my strong suit. Unfortunately, when COVID-19 began to spread shortly after my graduation, I saw a decrease in the number of available positions and took this opportunity to explore other fields. I saw a need within education as teachers began to rapidly leave their profession. I found this to be an extremely gratifying and enriching experience. The two years I spent honing my ability to teach and lead has allowed me to enrich my communication, organization, conflict resolution, and team work skills. My attention to different learning styles and my patience towards those I teach has resulted in consistently positive reviews, licensing scores, and observations from my administration. As I began the process of leaving my teaching position, I find myself more confident in my ability to adapt and learn as I seek work in the field I am most passionate about. While my professional experience in the public relations, communications, and training/learning and development field might be less robust than other applicants, I am confident that my skills and experience gained in the education field will have prepared me exceptionally well for a PR, recruiting, or professional training position.
