Cardiac Cath Lab technologist

As a Radiologic Technologist at MCA I am used in a variety of ways. On a daily basis I am rotated from the main radiology department, the ER, and the OR. In the main radiology department I work on outpatients that are referred from family doctors or specialists. Typically I take chest X-rays for pre-op protocol but also work on orthopedic referals. We also have a high volume of fluoroscopic procedures (Small bowel follow through, barium enemas, laryngograms, barium swallow studies, mediport dye studies, cystrograms, lumbar punctures, arthrograms, and CVC lines). Our hospital is the official Texas Rangers hospital so we work with many of their athletes and their minor league team as well. The ER is a level 3 trauma center working to become a level 2. Trauma experience ranges from severe motorcycle accidents to gun shot wounds and even some abused pediatrics. My time in the ER has strengthened my responsiveness and time management skills which I use in other aspects on the job. In the OR I have worked on numerous different cases. Every day is a different day and I never know what I am going to get. MCA has multiple orthopedic doctors which are always in demand for our services. Orthopedic exams consist of ORIF (ankle, tibia, knee, elbow, and shoulders), complete knee and hip replacements, amputations, and limited spine work like laminectomies. Other surgeries I am experienced in are cysto cases, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, ERCPs, bronchograms and mediport placements.
