My work with Life Notes is about capturing people's life stories on video, so they can be preserved and passed on to future generations. For me as both biographer and producer this project is the culmination of over 20 years of storytelling experience in video production, communications, and the arts. It's also something I'm passionate about, having been born out of a family experience some years ago. I work with subjects to elicit and shape their stories, and film, edit, and master them into a format they can share easily with friends and family. I believe if we can remember our stories and share and learn from them, then we might be on the right path as a society.

As a freelance videographer I create original video content (mostly web-based) for individuals and businesses, providing an end-to-end service that includes concept and story development, scripting, direction, multi-camera video capture, and editing/mastering in the Adobe CC environment. As part of this job I tend to meet a lot of interesting people from all walks of life, all working pretty hard to realise their vision and make their businesses successful. Helping them bring to life a story they can be proud of, and that captures some of that unique spirit and dedication is what makes this rewarding for me.

At the Melbourne School of Engineering (within the University of Melbourne) I was responsible for developing digital content and strategy for promotion of education and research activities, including video and photographic content, brand assets and identity, and advertising campaigns and creative. I also managed the events portfolio including public lectures, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives. In terms of great people and fascinating ideas and research developments, you couldn't beat this place. It's what kept me there year after year.

From performing mime theatre in Spain to directing opera in Melbourne and devising shows seen in Korea, Finland, and Switzerland, I've been lucky to be involved in a few different projects over the years. Mostly it's about telling stories and exploring ideas using whatever means seems most appropriate. I don't think I'll ever stop this stuff - there's always something kicking around in development.

As a teaching artist and performer I developed and delivered original theatre-based workshops and performances for schools throughout Victoria. This work centred around the themes of voice and movement techniques for performers, how to develop original scripts and stories, and the exploration of imagination and creativity. Working with younger audiences and students is always challenging and rewarding. It's always real, and you're always on your toes.
