Luke Fry Architecture & Interior Design was founded 8 years ago with the goal to design projects that foster a healthy, highly functional environments which create a tailored experience that is connected to lifestyle. Enriching interaction rather than segregation is integral to the design approach. Based in Melbourne and Mansfield, our projects reach beyond the city limits to coastal, country and alpine areas.Working with the highly skilled team at Luke Fry Architecture and Interior Design is especially exciting for me. I have opportunities to design beautiful and meaningful architecture whilst simultaneously employing all of the skillsets that I have honed throughout my career such as project management and mentoring. The work is enriched by the support of a good work/life balance and a strong focus on personal and professional wellbeing that plays a significant part of the studio culture.

During my employment at TPA I was granted my first opportunity to truly explore luxury residential design, a longstanding interest of mine. My involvement in a plethora of different scales and house types offered a particular insight into the many nuances of highly personalised project briefs and the skills and knowledge it takes to fulfil them to their ultimate potential.

My initial employment at MA was to assist in the documentation of a significant aged care facility in South Australia, a sector I was new to. I went on to work on numerous aged care projects across Australia, from large scale multi-use developments to existing facility refurbishments. I strived to broaden my role and experience at Made Architects, both architecturally and professionally. During a company restructure I was excited to accept the position of Associate, and became actively involved in the branding and management of the company in addition to my roles as studio BIM manager and as a project architect.

I was invited to join Henry Architects to help document a particularly complicated restaurant / art gallery development which has since been completed. During my employment I became involved in a number of other projects and maintained my position amongst the excellent team of professionals.My responsibility broadened greatly during my time at HA, undertaking numerous projects such as house extensions, community buildings, office fit-outs and a childcare centre, typically working with Ross Henry himself.

As my first job in Australia I found working at Finnis Architects to be a fascinating experience. I was involved in multiple project stages including designing, planning, documentation and construction stages of projects ranging from house refurbishments and site subdivisions to large residential apartment developments.

Once completing the RIBA Part III stage to become a fully qualified Architect my responsibilities at DWA broadened very rapidly.I became the Project Runner for two residential developments (8 and 9 units respectively) in London, working directly under David Wood himself. My duties included helping to design the schemes, producing the full planning and working drawing packages, attending Design Team meetings and coordinating information, producing and submitting the full planning applications, liaising with the Planning Officers, Engineers and clients, appointing specialist consultants and organising and attending public consultations.

After gaining a Master's degree in 2010, DWA were keen for me to return to their employment. The majority of my time as a Part II Architectural Assistant was spent working on a 143 unit mixed use, mixed tenancy, part new-build and part refurbishment development in London. My responsibilities included the production of construction drawings, checking the work of consultants and subcontractors, detail design, liaising with Engineers and Contractors and coordinating Design Team information.Later I became involved in a handful of smaller projects in the feasibility, design and planning stages.

Starting as a Part I student at DWA I learnt a great deal about how the practice, the office and projects are administrated. While working under one of the company partners I contributed to many projects around the office, particularly in the planning stages. My work was often used in client presentations, public consultations and planning applications.
