I am a qualified social worker, member of the AASW, and have done additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have experience delivering psychosocial support, counselling and group support in the areas of paediatric oncology, and previously Domestic and Family Violence. I have special interest in areas of post cancer treatment and bereavement counselling with families. I work with families using primarily a strengths based approach, Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In this work I support families to reconcile and try make sense of their lives post treatment/death, supporting them to live lives they feel are meaningful, fulfilling and guided by their values. In addition, I am an experienced group facilitator, and have instituted, developed and coordinated a number of group support programs. Most notably at Redkite, the 'Coffee Catch Up Group' and the 'Coffee Group for Bereaved Parents' . These groups provide parents and opportunity to connect and talk about common challenges they experience.Throughout my career, I have not only developed my social work practice, but have also taken on opportunities to develop in the areas of leadership and service development. Within this work I have been required to manage competing priorities, solve complex problems and work with different stakeholders. Most notably, I have been involved with the Child and Youth Cancer Alliance (Redkite, Canteen and Camp Quality) to deliver the Cancer Hub Navigation service. *****I acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of the land, and wish to pay special acknowledgement to the Jagera and Turbal people. Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land. I wish to pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging.
