CurrentHosting in-person sessions focused on STEM Education and discussing the science and physics of wind tunnels, skydiving, as well as engineering careers. Working with elementary, middle school, and high school students to perform various labs and find effective teaching methods to explain concepts. Sessions begin with a half hour presentation to the school to explain STEM concepts and the science behind iFly’s tunnel and flight. Groups are later broken up based on size. Lab examples include the Terminal Velocity Lab where high school students can calculate/predict their own terminal velocity before entering the wind tunnel and flying, where our tunnel measures their actual velocity and they can compare values. Normally there’s a “Grand Finale” show where we take different objects to toss into the wind tunnel and students can make predictions on which will fly first based on mass, area, etc.
