Worked in a rural hospital setting functioning as a psychiatric consultant for the Emergency Departmentand medicine floor as well as mentoring junior residents for the inpatient psychiatric service.

Covered half of 90 bed inpatient unit including low and high acuity adults, geriatrics,and adolescents. Completed new patient evaluations, followed up on establishedpatients, and handled nursing communications and emergencies.

Studied radiation resistance in castration-resistant prostate cancer with androgen deprivation treatment through prostate cancer cell lines, mouse models, and tissue samples. Examined the role of androgen receptor spliced variants in DNA repair.Provided routine technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to particular field of science.

Created lesson plans from assigned syllabus for grade 3 math. Responsible for teaching the material, assigning/grading homework, and providing evaluations to parents.

Polymerized monomers and analyzed compounds for applicable properties under Dr. Jingbo Wu– Biochemical lab studying amyloid-forming peptides for developing Alzheimer’s disease therapeutic agents. Synthesized peptides using solid-phase peptide synthesis and high-performance liquid chromatography for purification under Dr. Warren Goux.

Poster Presentation: Investigating genes that Interact with EWS-FLI1 in Ewing’s Sarcoma Using ZebrafishGreen Fellowship and Research Intern in the lab of Dr. James Amatruda, M.D., Ph.D. Supervisor: Dr. Joanie Neumann, Ph.D.- Studied Ewing’s Sarcoma using a zebrafish model. Microinjection of zebrafish in embryo stage for observation and to create new lines of transgenic fish. Genotyping of zebrafish using PCR. Identified possible suppressor genes of EWS-FLI1 using a forward genetic suppressor screen. Looked for cooperating genes using a live imaging assay.

Taught/Tutored Level 7 math (geometry) as well as substituted for other teachers as necessary, mainly in lower level English/math sections.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe aquatic environment for patrons, act in case of emergency, record keeping, preparing for aquatic classes (such as aerobics or swim team) to non-aquatic classes (such as rock climbing).
