Following an H.B.Sc. in psychology at the University of Toronto in 2002, I completed my Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2008, which focused on the role of communication within distributed cortical networks in perceptual and cognitive processes. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at UBC Pediatrics which employed magnetoencephalographic (MEG) brain imaging to investigate difficulties in neurocognitive development in children born very prematurely.I began as in independent investigator as a Scientist in the Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute and an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medical Imaging and Psychology at the University of Toronto. In 2015 I joined the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University as an Associate Professor My research focuses on the role of neural oscillations in functional brain networks and their dynamics. Specifically, I am interested in now brain network communication develops throughout childhood and adolescence and contributes to the maturation of cognitive abilities. In tandem, this research seeks to understand how altered communication in brain networks contributed to developmental difficulties in clinical child populations and disorders with as particular focus on autism. In addition to this academic work I am also pursuing commercial EEG applications as CSO of Proteus NeuroDynamics.
