About Sam Driver

With a background in Human Genetics and Cancer I have a profound interest in all things biology. As a Senior Research Technician and Lab Manager of one of the largest multi-group laboratories in the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds I have expanded my repertoire into the field of Virology. My skills lay in organising and maintaining a safe, operational lab space, focusing on the day to day tasks thereby allowing the researchers to focus on the future. With tasks ranging from liaising with countless colleagues from various departments and external companies to managing the communal spending of the lab, I thrive on the constantly shifting demands of the researchers.Technical Biosafety plays a critical role in any laboratory work and it's my job to ensure all lab users operate under rigorous H&S procedures in the CL-1, 2, and 3 labs under my purview.I also proudly lead the FBS Coffee Morning Team, arranging monthly events sponsored by a host of suppliers. Acting as a bridge between the suppliers and the research, technical, and academic staff within the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
