The Derrickman role requires me to operate and maintain all aspects of the rig pumps, tanks and the mast. Being on a conventional oil rig this is all manual and requires a high level of fitness and drive to make sure everything operates smoothly. This is a high pressure job in which I feel most at home with, I hope to continue this role into my offshore career.

Participated in a high tech operation in the Kruger National Park to actively track and capture poachers set out to hunt rhinos for the illegal ivory trade.

Security guard/Door man in a busy ski resort based in Niseko Japan, in charge of all aspects of security for multiple establishment along side staff rosters and transport.

Responsible for all sub surface instalment of pipe and ducting for sites, operation and maintenance of machinery.

My promotion to Lance Corporal stemmed from my success in the Stores Accountant role I was pinged for in April 2012. I was moved to a different unit where I was single-handedly responsible for the entire squadrons issue of kit and weapons for day to day use and exercises/deployments. I was the youngest Marine in the squadron at the time and by reference of my Sergeant Major was awarded the promotion. As a result of this, I was required to accompany the unit to Afghanistan for what would be my 2nd tour. Here my role as a Store Accountant (I was responsible for ensuring ALL necessary and appropriate kit not only arrived in Afghanistan safely but also returned back to the UK at the end of the tour too) was still very prominent although I did partake in a number of other exercises, patrols and tasks whilst deployed. During this time I worked as a general duties Royal Marine partaking in various exercises in preparation for my deployment to Afghanistan. Here, again I was often required to route and lead patrols which I believe reflects my inherent ability to work well under pressure, as part of a team whilst as a team leader.
