Profile bio

About Sam Dunwell

A highly motivated hard-working Miner, shaft sinker, shotfirer and ex Royal Marine with a passion for gaining knowledge within the mining Industry. Capable of working well as a team or as an individual. I served five years as a Royal Marine (two of these as a Lance Corporal) where I was deployed on two seven month operational tours in Afghanistan. My first tour I was at the spear head of a fighting unit and my second in charge of logistical support for an operational squadron. My career in the Royal Marines bought me many experiences that I believe sculptured my attributes and DESIRE TO PROGRESS in a career that is practical and will keep me 'on my toes.' During my time in the Royal Marines, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to travel extensively with the different exercises I was put forward for; from Arctic training in Austria to Pre Deployment training in Oman. Upon leaving the marines and before commencing employment with Guy Bentley Ltd, as you can see there is a small gap in which I went travelling for 4 months around Asia. The majority of this was done on a variation of motorbikes which I hope displays my independence and natural ability to adapt and overcome. One of my passions lie with travelling which I believe is another reason why this role is so endearing to me. When I returned I then began working for Guy Bentley Ltd where I'm in charge of all under surface level works of structures being erected on site. I am also responsible for the maintenance and operation of light to heavy machinery. After a successful career in the Royal Marines I progressed to the role of Derrickman on the land rigs for BDF and then progressed to offshore as a Roughneck both on semi submersibles and platforms. I thrive in a role with promotional prospects and goals I can work towards. I believe the mining industry offers me the most attractive and suitable career whilst still relative to my interests, experience, and practical, hands on nature. I pride myself on being a HARD-WORKING and COMMITTED individual who is always aspiring to perform any task to the very best of my ability.I now work as a Miner and shotfirer for Redpath.
