I'm currently helping build SmithRx, a healthcare technology company focused on lowering healthcare spend and providing patients with access to the drugs they need. Healthcare costs are too high in the U.S. and continue to rise rapidly. There are a lot of factors in play but a part of this rise is a result of drug price increases driven by middlemen called Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). Within this market there are structural conflicts of interest (insurers that own their own pharmacies and PBMs) and incentive dislocations (drug manufacturer kickbacks or "rebates" for pushing their product) that exacerbate drug price inflation.Smith is addressing this market by building a transparent, technology-driven PBM. Before Smith I joined Anduril as an early employee and worked on many projects across product, operations, business development, finance, and recruiting. Anduril is privately funding and building products that America and her allies desperately need: real-time battlefield awareness for soldiers on the ground and headquarters alike, technology that keeps our men and women on the front line out of harm’s way, and a host of other technologies that will ensure we are staying ahead of our adversaries. As a product-focused company that funds and builds our own technology, we are not beholden to the typical cost-plus contract structure, which rewards slow and expensive development of bespoke technology. Anduril has raised >$2 billion from leading venture capital investors.Before Anduril I was a finance person at a Peter Thiel founded venture capital firm and before that at Goldman Sachs.
