Led a crew of four volunteers under a US Fish and Wildlife contract to eradicate the invasive Yellow Crazy Ant from the remote atoll. Surveyed for ants, method development of new low-density survey/monitoring techniques and targeted baiting, wrote weekly reports, data entry/analysis/management, successfully expanded ant farms including successfully rearing.

Responsibilities included the contributing to natural resource damage assessments of several sites for mercury contamination using songbirds as indicators of impacts to wildlife. Included mist netting and non-lethally sampling birds for mercury through blood and feather sample collection, field logistics, supervising training new technicians and interns.

Surveyed for the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler on the military base at Fort Hood. Target netted, color-banded, nest searched, and re-sighted the warblers.

Santa Ana, TX

Surveyed and observed Black-bellied Whistling Ducks nesting on the hypersaline lake La Sal Vieja in south Texas. Shorebird surveys. Continued the following summer independently as a final undergraduate project.
