Carolina Sexual Wellness Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of providing high quality and affordable sex therapy, education, and professional training to the broader community. I worked as a clinical social work intern within the STAAR Initiative—an internal program to provide sex-positive therapy at affordable rates for those who lack health insurance and/or cannot afford the essential care they need.

The Margolis Center for Health Policy prioritizes improving health and the value of healthcare through practical, innovative, and evidence-based policy solutions. My role as Research Associate included managing Dr. Monica Lemmon’s NIH K23 study investigating doctor-parent communication and shared decision-making in the neonatal ICU; coordinating project-wide data collection and conducting semi-structured interviews on parent’s experience within the NICU; directing manuscript development and analysis investigating the role of social workers in NICU family conferences; conducting parent and patient interviews for a Burroughs Wellcome funded project researching the lived experience of pediatric migraine. In addition to my work with Dr. Lemmon, I also consulted on qualitative data collection and analaysis for projects within the Duke Cancer Institute Behavioral Health & Survey Research Core.

CES consulting harnesses community expertise to improve the healthcare field and connect people to resources in an innovative manner. I am responsible for consulting on grant-writing efforts, both internal to the organization and for contracted clients.

2BeatHIV’s working group investigates the social and ethical effects of curing HIV; I conducted and contributed to research exploring HIV+ lived experiences with HIV, cure, research, and stigma. During my tenure, I managed data collection and cleaning; conducted all working group qualitative data analysis using MAXQDA; coordinated community engagement and outreach strategies; developed marketing campaigns that have a current research of 350,000 people, both in-person and online; co-facilitated focus group discussions; and assisted in grant writing efforts.
