About Sam Ganni

I enjoy challenging myself to reach new goals. I started working part-time at Tim Hortons as a high school student in 1996. I had no idea how much that decision would change—and shape—my career. I learned every component of the business (from baking to customer service to managing and motivating people to everything in between) before Tim Hortons accepted my application for a franchise opportunity in 1999. My family worked in real estate, engineering, and land development, so I took a very different career path than expected. I’ve also challenged myself with bodybuilding (training and competitions) since 2001. This decision to become a franchisee was exciting and risky because I chose entrepreneurship over finishing an engineering degree. Over 20 years later, I’ve never regretted my choice. Even though I have always been interested in real estate, construction, investments, and development, I pursued entrepreneurship first. I thrived on the discipline and commitment required to run a successful franchise because these corporate values influenced the way I work and live (and still do). I am proud to be a multiple Tim Hortons franchisee with several top performing locations across the GTA. I am also proud of my real estate investments, capital I have raised and development projects I have identified and managed (independently and collaboratively) as a Land Developer for Double Diamond Capital. While being a restaurant franchisee for a well-respected brand, land developer and real estate investor sound like very different areas of focus, they share a common paths to success, including finding an optimal business location, identifying earning potential and motivating a team dedicated to achieving results.SPECIALTIES: Entrepreneurship; Team Leadership; Restaurant Management; Business Acumen; Strategic Planning; Project Management; Land Development Requirements; Real Estate Investments; Real Estate Market Knowledge.

    Co-Founder And Managing Director
Double Diamond Capital Inc. 2017 - Present
Double Diamond Capital formally opened for business in 2017 and specializes in managing and overseeing land development projects in the residential, condominium and healthcare sectors. Prior to joining Double Diamond Capital, I was involved in several residential and commercial real estate ventures. These experiences taught me valuable lessons, including:• Current knowledge of real estate market trends across southern Ontario • The ability to identify viable real estate projects• How to qualify and evaluate suitable investment opportunities • Practical experience to see a project through from inception to completionThe relationships we have fostered since opening our doors are the main reasons for the success of our current projects and ventures, and have built a solid foundation for the business, and our network of investors and partners, to continue growing.

Established in 1964 by a former NHL player with the same name, the quintessential Canadian restaurant chain has grown to over 4,800 locations across the country. While Tim Hortons’ legacy is firmly rooted in Canada, the organization also has locations in 14 different nations around the world. While balancing full-time university studies and working as a manager at a Tim Hortons, I made the bold move to apply to become a franchise owner. I had joined Tim Hortons in 1996, earned several promotions and I knew that I was ready to take the next step.I remember a flood of emotions when I received word that, after an intense qualification period and thorough interview process, that my franchisee application had been accepted by head office. A short time after, a Tim Hortons location in my community became available. I left university, and fully committed myself to owning, operating, training, and developing a team dedicated to promoting the restaurant’s growth and overall performance. My franchise was thriving, and I used what I had learned from my first experience to open, build and develop a great team to achieve incredible success in several different locations across the GTA. It is an honour to lead and mentor over 200 employees across some of Tim Hortons busiest locations in the GTA, as well as inspire and encourage many talented employees and new franchisees along the way.

    Various Roles
    Tim Hortons 1996 - 1999
    Toronto, On, Ca
I was hired by Tim Hortons as a part-time baker in 1996. My managers recognized my drive and desire to learn different aspects of the business, so I was cross-trained in customer service, operations and strengthened my communication skills by training and supervising others over a period of 18 months. I earned a promotion to a management position before I had graduated high school, and enjoyed the challenge of training, mentoring and motivating teams to deliver consistent results. I saw that Tim Hortons had a successful business model along with brand recognition that was second to none across Canada, and decided to take the next logical step forward – applying to become a franchise owner.
  • Real Estate Developments
    Land Developer
    Real Estate Developments 2011 - 2017
As a Land Developer and investor, I use my field-related knowledge in every investment and development opportunity that we pursue. Building and maintaining positive relationships with investors, partners and subject matter experts is the greatest contribution I make to various companies that I worked with.
