In this role I develop a portfolio of projects researching and establishing the tools and capacities needed for effective climate resilient development at local level. This includes:- Technical advice to governments and NGOs on establishing climate finance delivery mechanisms- Understanding the challenges and opportunities in accessing climate finance from multiple sources- Developing gender transformative tools for climate action planning, applying feminist and intersectional approaches The majority of my research has been applied across East Africa. I am also the Programming Lead for the Community Based Adaptation conference series, the world's leading practitioner focussed international climate adaptation conference. The conference provides a platform for representatives of the vulnerable communities to articulate their priorities for climate action, and to build their capabilities to deliver it.

Malawi

Masambiro funds a Malawian trust in the running of a school in Nkhata Bay. 25% of the students are funded with bursaries. Overall, my role was support the long term sustainability of the school and to develop its community oriented projects. This included feasibility studies for a government accredited vocational training scheme aimed at the poorest students in the area, and the construction of a girls dormitory at the site of the school. Responsibilities: - Establishing income generating activities such as agricultural projects and space rental - Researching the building of a girls dormitory on the sight of the school - Performing a feasibility study, and ultimately a project plan for a vocational training project - Managing the budget of the trust in Malawi - Working with staff at the school to promote sustainability of projects

Tzedek sends a group of volunteers to Ghana each year as part of their Go Global program. As Volunteer Coordinator, my role was to manage this program.Responsibilities: - Advertising and attracting interests from potential participants - Establishing volunteering placements at Tzedek's partners in Tamale, Northern Ghana - Remote management of Tzedek interns in Ghana - Preparing and running orientation courses for volunteers - Ensuring the smooth running of the program

Grassroots groups were brought together to lobby their MP's and network with others for further action on climate issues.Responsibilities: - Liasing with activists around London - Supporting groups with Campaign materials and information - Monitoring events taking place and reporting them to the central office

A one year internship split between the UK and Tamale, Ghana. Tzedek is small educational development NGO, supporting education on international development within the Jewish community, and funding educational development projects in India and Ghana. Responsibilities - London: - Developing fundraising materials for the major campaigns of the organisation - Organising the yearly fundraising event, a charity abseil, raising over £20,000 - Updating the organisations blog and social media pages - Updating Goldmine, the database of donors and contributors - Ran training and educational presentations for Tzedek volunteersGhana: - Working to develop the schools partnership program, recruiting local staff and liasing with schools in the area - Maintaining relationships with Tzedek partners - Performing monitoring and evaluation interviews with project participants - Managing volunteers

Habonim Dror is a youth organisation educating young people on global social justice, cultural identity, life and leadership skills. As director, I worked closely with a team to train and educate leaders to plan, run and manage Summer and Winter Camps as well as regular weekly activities. Managed relations with external organisations and the day to day running of the organisation. Planned Educational programs for participants at all levels of the movement, as well as extensive volunteer management.
