About Sam Haab
I have strong interests in the fields of conservation, community service, and environmental justice. I have worked previously with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, as a summer research fellow at St. Lawrence University, and as a writing tutor. I have conducted independent research on microplastic pollution of waterways as well as on pollinators in agroecosystems throughout the North Country. I served a 10-month term with AmeriCorps NCCC in their Southwest Region and a 12-month term as a NCCC Team Leader in the Pacific Region based out of Sacramento, CA. Pre-pandemic, I worked as an outdoor educator and wilderness trips leader in mid-coast Maine where I taught a comprehensive ecology curriculum and led groups of youth on canoe, kayak, and camping trips in Maine and Canada. Additionally, I have served as a Kupu AmeriCorps service member on the Kaua'i National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Hawai'i completing projects in environmental education, habitat restoration, and plant nursery management. I currently work for the Charleston Parks Conservancy as a horticulturist in Charleston, SC.
