I competed in the Biotechnology YES competition as part of a team of four PhD scientists from the University of Sheffield. We recently won our regional heat and are currently preparing for the final in December.

A genetics Society summer studentship award allowed me to work in the cytogenetics department of the University of Birmingham for 10 weeks. Over this time I investigated Arabidopsis thaliana cytogenetics in control and specific protein knockout models. This then lead to a further 20 weeks of research as a final year project.
