This post is jointly funded by EDF Energy and Salamanca Group Ltd through the legal agreements associated with the Hinkley Point C and Gravity projects. My responsibilities revolve around the positive delivery and successful implementation of both projects in relation to transport and infrastructure.Particular projects and programmes that I continue to lead and collaborate on include:- Project management and delivery of two public realm enhancement and sustainable infrastructure projects, in and around Bridgwater, with a combined total value of over £1million.- Working closely with the Local Highway Authority and EDF on the management and delivery of a travel demand management and behaviour change programme for Bridgwater and the wider communities with a value of over £2.8million.- Working closely with the developer, a team of consultants and the Local Highway Authority to ensure early and successful delivery of the £10.3million Gravity link road, opening up the Enterprise Zone and 222 acres of consented employment land on the Southwest's largest brownfield site.- Engaging with stakeholders and partners in order to ensure the successful and timely delivery of various safety and capacity transportation schemes in Bridgwater with a total value of approximately £3.9million.- Providing an oversight and liaison role on behalf of Sedgemoor District Council to the Local Highway Authority on the design, project management and phased delivery of a number of walking and cycling infrastructure schemes across the HPC HGV corridors within Sedgemoor with a combined value of over £3.1million.

This post was funded by EDF through the legal agreements associated with the HPC project. HPC will be the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. The site covers approximately 175 hectares and will comprise two new nuclear reactors adjacent to Hinkley A & B. The two new reactors will generate 3,260MW of power which is the equivalent of the energy needs of five million homes, or 7% of the UKs energy needs.My responsibilities revolved around the positive delivery, successful implementation and monitoring of the project in accordance with the DCO. I was involved in the management and delivery of the Council's obligations pursuant to the legal agreements and the discharging of requirements and obligations in relation to the project. Sitting in the Major Projects Office I also coordinated the consultation responses from statutory and non-statutory consultees and acted as a primary point of contact for all stakeholders.

Working as a Planning Consultant in the planning team within the Southwest regional office, with a focus on the rural and urban fringe. Engaging with all aspects of planning work from preparing and submitting planning applications to responding to consultations on behalf of clients, dealing with and preparing appeals and representing clients from all backgrounds and perspectives.Specific projects include:- successfully achieving the allocation of a 200 dwelling and 1ha mixed employment site in south Devon and commencing the preparation of an outline planning application for the site,- working with a Parish Council to achieve an allocation to meet local aspirations including 60 dwellings, a small supermarket, a replacement day nursery and a community car park in Shropshire, and,- preparing and submitting numerous planning applications for commercial scale solar arrays across the south of England and subsequently submitting appeals (where necessary) and discharging pre-commencement conditions in order to achieve deliverable schemes.

Dealing with a variety of planning applications, pre-application proposals and planning appeals in the Development Management Department. I dealt with various major applications including two concurrent large scale solar farms, EIA Screening Requests and also worked with consultants and the Legal Dept. in the defence of the Silton Wind Farm appeal at Public Inquiry. I also sat on the Dorset Sustainable Energy Planning Group with colleagues from various authorities across the County in DM, Planning Policy and Building Control.Completed the Young UK and Ireland ‘Leaders of the Future’ Programme (2011).

Dealing with more minor planning applications across the National Park as well as validating and registering applications, working with the planning technician and enforcement officer to monitor planning conditions and ensure conditions were complied with.

Working within development control and carrying out a range of duties including validating and registering planning applications and dealing with a variety of planning applications from householder to listed building consent. Negotiating with agents regarding the requirements for their application and what amendments to applications may make them acceptable.
