• Worked as part of a 4-person research team to conduct a multi-year experimentrequiring collaboration with other research groups within the laboratory toidentify invasive species “hot spots “ along Great Lakes coasts• Collected and analyzed thousands of ecological samples from 12 spots around thecoastal wetlands of Michigan in order to evaluate the impact of Typha (cattailplant) on the surrounding organisms and overall ecosystem, with concludingresults indicating that cattail is a monoculture within these ecosystems• Operated and maintained various types of laboratory equipment in order toensure optimal experiment procedure, helping to ensure accurate results• Responsible for recording data, including updated, detailed records of plantobservations and characteristics.

• Performed ecological research with Team Typha from Loyola University, in order to determine if cattails could be used as an inexpensive, alternative source of energy, resulting in the pelletizing of cattail species for means of comparison to other sources of alternative energy, such as corn• Used SPSS to determine statistical significance of various treatments in mitigating invasive hybrid cattail species Typha x glauca of the Cheboygan Marsh to determine the most effective treatment, which was found to be the below ground biomass removal treatment
