In my role as manager of the P&P unit my key accountabilities were the management and strategic direction of a unit responsible for:- project management of business development and business improvement projects- strategic and business planning- risk management- business continuity management- performance reporting and business analysis- preparation of business cases and funding bids- development of the OPP's case management system

In this role my focus was on improving professional infrastructure, strengthening governance, enhancing service delivery to both the internal workforce and external stakeholders and providing strategic support to the OPP Executive. I was a member of the OPP Audit Committee, OPP Strategic Management Group, Corporate Services Management Team and the OH&S and Emergency Management Committees. My core responsibilities included:• producing all internal and external data reports, and responding to internal and external data requests• project managing the production of the OPP’s Annual Report• production and development of data for inclusion in and assessment of the OPP’s Strategic and Business Plans• program and contract management oversight and vendor relationship management for a practice management database implementation project• management of the OPP’s Expenditure Review Sub Committee (ERSC) process, with previous business cases submitted securing additional budgetary funding of $28M for the Asset Confiscation Scheme and $12M for the OPP Accommodation Project). • project management of legal practice development and corporate modernisation projects• provision of business analysis expertise and advice to inform and guide internal projects and criminal justice system initiatives including the provision of all data to the Royal Commission into Childhood Sexual Abuse• management and development of two staff members.

In this role I was responsible for the implementation of management, statistical, workload and performance reports from a client relationship management (CRM) database. The scope of the role included the definition of business information requirements, validating functional specifications, liaising with report developers and testers, consulting with data customers over future reporting needs and providing education material to users to enable them to run reports and interpret data. The post involved the management of two Business Analysts.

Key responsibilities/achievements• Liaison with key customers to determine business area data reporting requirements.• Compilation of functional specifications to develop reporting functionality from a CRM database.• Standardisation of document templates and development processes to ensure consistency and improve reporting accuracy.• Definition and documentation of business and counting rules.

I joined the ONS as a graduate and my career path at took me from a junior administration role to a senior statistician role within the area of consumer price indices. All the roles from December 1999 to November 2004 involved line management of between one and seven staff members.Key responsibilities/achievements• Monthly compilation of Consumer Prices Index (CPI) high-level briefing material detailing key movements in UK inflation. Includes press releases, technical documents for the Bank of England & HM Treasury and material for ministerial and senior management briefings.• Delivery of monthly UK inflation data releases via press conferences including Q&A sessions.• Management of computer processing for UK CPI, including database administration and maintenance (SQL and INGRES).• Creation of computer system documentation including system administrator guide, technical specifications and functional requirements to assist with future system maintenance and development.• Project management of ONS input into the International Comparison Program in Africa, an initiative to monitor the implementation of World Bank Millennium Development Goals and improve African statistical capacity.• Creation and development of CPI analysis spreadsheets for modelling impact of price changes on UK consumers for commodities and services.• Compilation of detailed monthly inflation briefing notes for publication on the ONS website.• Project Executive role in quality assurance and review program overseeing changes to CPI section and item weights, item index production spreadsheets and the ‘basket of goods’.• Consultancy visits to new European Union Member States and the Channel Islands to provide technical assistance and assess CPI construction techniques and application.• Implementation of methodological improvements to ensure compliance with Eurostat legislation.
