Sam J. Email and Phone Number
1st class LLB and current LPC student embarking on the final chapter, aiming for a career in medical/health and Regulatory law. I've a strong working background in the health sector which has given me a big interest in the various aspects of law that fall under the medical and health law umbrella.15 years experience in the NHS, dental and medical, and volunteering for many services, most recently AvMA, I also took part in a pilot project with the Freedom Law Clinic to assist with development of a service aimed at nurses and midwives. The potential of this programme grew exponentially and was picked up by a new forum, namely the fledgling legal clinic - Sequentus. Sequentus have allowed me to expand and develop this programme. Our aim was to have a recognised assistance service in place for nurses and midwives who find themselves in need of support and guidance when facing fitness to practice alone. This has now expanded and the programme offers support to all professionals who find themselves in need. Additional to this, we offer a niche programme to law students who want to forge a career in the field of regulatory law. The current campaign to create recognition and gain support is well underway. Sequentus have given me a platform to develop my ideas and work towards creating opportunities for the next generation. Namely the development of an programme aimed at 16-19 year old, allowing them the opportunity to gain vital insight and experience within the legal environment. Our team is extremely proud to be able to offer this opportunity after making it a reality. I am incredibly proud to have this support and further ideas are well underway! These will be my pro-bono contributions hopefully for many years to come. I've had the opportunity to gain some insight into criminal law and I wholeheartedly enjoyed every moment of it. The work was compelling and the learning experience I have gained from this is priceless. I has definitely made me think twice about a career in this sector. I would love the opportunity to expand on this knowledge and welcome any invitation by way of a mentor or advice from those who are established in that area of law. Juggling that with a very busy home life (toddlers and a teen with autism... So crazy busy) a full time job and my volunteer work is hard, but I make it work rather well. Future intention is to secure a TC within a firm who specialises in the area of law that I'm determined to break in to. But wanting the ultimate control over my own future, plan b is well underway. Counting down the hours of QWE.
