Keeping abreast of policy development and guidance is essential, especially due to the fast paced nature of the agricultural transition. I am the main contact for stakeholders and partners across the country, acting as central point of advice, and representing NE at key partnership roundtables and events. I am also the responsible office for numerous SSSI's, where I uphold NE's statutory duty to ensure they are in favourable condition. This consists of their ecological assessments, advice to landowners, consenting/assenting to name a few. Show less

My work covers the rich diversity of habitats within the Thames and Solent regions. Tasks includes processing requests for permission for works within SSSI’s (consents and assents), helping with our programme of SSSI condition monitoring, and working with colleagues and landowners managing farmland and other Stewardship schemes - Higher Level Stewardship agreements and the Higher Tier parts of Countryside Stewardship scheme.

Ecocore (previously Total Carbon Rationing) is a campaign not-for-profit, with the aim to integrate the new innovative concept of Carbon Rationing into our economy in order to control our emissions to below 2 degrees of warming. My work required me to be flexible across diverse tasks. This ranged from helping establish a Social Media presence, identify potential donors, help develop the business plan, budgeting, helping write and provide feedback on copy.

I worked at various venues and events such as local fairs and shows. Here I utilise my stand with information and props to engage with members of the public, from all demographics and backgrounds, about the vital conservation work my local Wildlife Trust undertakes.I aim to inspire everyone's love and passion for nature to make them want to sign up to be members of the Trust. Throughout the 5 week Journey Summer School I travelled to Paris-Zurich-Leoben (Austria). During this time we were taught how to tackle climate change through business innovation. We met with Experts at the front line in tackling climate change. Through developing our own start-up project we were able to apply what we had learnt, as well as our own skills and interests in teams of four to work towards mitigating and adapting to climate change challenges.

Kangaroo Island is not far off the coast of South Australia but is teeming with wildlife, also known as the Galapagos of Australia. I worked for a high end Luxury lodge. My role involved taking guests on multiple tours to diverse locations around the Island. I also had other in house responsibilities to help improve the guest experience. Being an island of 4,500 sq km a lot of driving was involved. I worked for a high end Luxury lodge. My role involved taking guests on multiple tours to diverse locations around the Island. I also had other in house responsibilities to help improve the guest experience. Being an island of 4,500 sq km a lot of driving was involved. I drove minibuses while providing ongoing narration about the tour and local fauna and flora, while having to keep a watchful eye for Kangaroos, Koalas, Wallabies and Echidnas on the road. Other parts of the job involved taking groups down onto a beach known as Seal Bay, a conservation reserve, and educate them on the endangered Australian Sea lion. An accreditation was required to guide here, as I needed to prove I could control a group while surrounded by unpredictable 450kg sea lions while minimising our interference with them and talking to the guests about them. It was a very remote place of work, with the nearest town being over an hour away. This did not bother me as I enjoy the peaceful simplicity of remote nature. This being the case we lived and worked on site meaning life became work.
